How does theseus current decision regarding

Both Lysander and Demetrius love Hermia. Theseus commands Hermia to obey her father. She refuses, and plans to elope outside Athens' jurisdiction with Lysander.

She stupidly tells this plan to her friend Helena. Helena loves Demetrius, but Demetrius wants Helena to leave him alone. Helena tells Hermia's plan to Demetrius because she thinks he will show his gratitude by marrying her.

This doesn't end up working in Helena's favor, but it stops Lysander and Hermia from leaving Athens. Sorry, my hand is hurting so I have to stop here. In the case of Theseus of the Greek Legends, Theseus did die, but later life is rather enigmatic. After his son was killed by Poseidon's bull or Dionsyus's bull in some stories for supposedly raping Theseus's 2nd wife, his popularity declined. Some say that after his decline of popularity he left towards Lycomedes of the island of Skyros, who pushed Theseus off a cliff to his death.

Overally, the theory that Theseus was pushed off a cliff is currently the only information regarding to Theseus's death. The play opens with him talking about how eager he is to marry Hippolyta, his betrothed, and he hears Egeus's complaint about his daughter, Hermia, who refuses to marry Demetrius, who Egeus has picked out for her.

Theseus ultimately rules that Hermia has three options: either marry Demetrius, become a nun, or die. At the end of the play, Theseus abandons his harsh judgments and allows Hermia to marry Lysander who she loves and the rest of the lovers can also marry who they wish.

His daughter Hermia refuses to marry Demetrius who Egeus has chosen for her, because she wants to marry Lysander. Egeus wants the Duke to enforce the law that says that she must marry who her father wants or "die the death".

The Duke is obviously hesitant and gives her the further option of becoming a nun. Hermia and Lysander think of an even better option. Theseus Duke of Athens is making preparations to marry Hippolyta, meanwhile, Egeus is telling Hermia that she must marry Demetrius, however Hermia loves Lysander, and is refusing.

Hermia and Lysander plan to run away to a rich aunt of Lysander, and get married. They tell Helena of their plans, but she tells Demetrius to get into his good books, as she loves him. In the forest, a group of men are preparing a play for Theseus' wedding, when one of the men turns into a donkey!

Meanwhile, Puck puts love juice onto a sleeping Lysander, and Hermia is next to him. Then Helena enters, Lysander awakes, and falls in love with her.

Helena feels mocked so they run off arguing. Then on comes Demetrius, and Hermia awakes, believing Demetrius has killed Lysander in his sleep, they argue and Demetrius falls asleep. Then Demetrius ends up with love juice in his eyes, and an unhappy Helena and Lysander come on stage, which then wakes Demetrius, he falls in love with Helena, and then Hermia comes onstage. This is the first point where everyone is all together, having a huge argument.

Insults are thrown around, and people are constantly being hurt. When it all dies down and everyone falls asleep, Puck and Oberon "arrange" them, with love juice and out them in positions, so that when they wake up, they fall back in love with the correct person.

The primary conflict which is quickly introduced in Act 1 Scene 1 is that between Egeus and Hermia. Egeus is supported by Demetrius and, somewhat reluctantly, by Theseus. Hermia is supported by Lysander, and in some productions, by Hippolyta.

You cannot understand this play unless you take apart the separate strands of the plot:Theseus and Hippolyta are to be married at the new moon, which is coming soon. Hermia wants to marry Lysander but her father Egeus and Demetrius want her to marry Demetrius. Helena wants to marry Demetrius but he has brushed her off. Peter Quince, Nick Bottom and other artisans of the town wish to write and perform a play.

Oberon, King of the Fairies, has a dispute with his wife Titania over who will raise a certain boy. Theseus is the ruler of the town but Oberon is the ruler of the forest.

Egeus appeals to Theseus to enforce his wedding plans for Hermia, whereupon Hermia and Lysander, followed by Demetrius and Helena, leave the town and enter the forest. Likewise Quince et al decide to rehearse their play in the forest. Here the fairies take charge and although their intervention interrupts the rehearsal and makes the love problems even worse by having Lysander fall in love with Helena, eventually three of the plotlines get resolved by the end of Act IV: Lysander's love for Hermia is restored and Demetrius no longer loves her, enabling Theseus to approve the marriage of Hermia and Lysander.

He captured her when he conquered her people, the Amazons. Egeus greets Theseus. His daughter, Hermia, and two guys named Lysander and Demetrius His disobedient daughter refuses to marry Demetrius, the guy Egeus has chosen to be her husband. He lodges a formal complaint to the Duke. Lysander He presented Hermia with various love-tokens, serenaded her by moonlight, and even given her a lock of his hair.

She's his daughter and therefore his property. She'll be put to death. She flat-out refuses to marry Demetrius. She can become a celibate nun or be put to death.

Theseus says that being a nun isn't so great and that Hermia should bite the bullet and marry Demetrius. Hermia says should would rather die a virgin. Four days He says that Egeus should marry Demetrius since he loves him so much. He's equal to Demetrius in pedigree, better off financially, and Hermia actually loves him. Lysander says that Demetrius courted Hermia's friend, Helena, who still has a crush on Demetrius.

He says he's heard about this and means to have a talk with Demetrius about it. Theseus tells Hermia to be a good girl and listen to her dad, or else deal with Athenian law. Hermia declares that they're destined to be together. His rich, widowed aunt loves him like a son. She lives outside the reach of Athenian law. Hermia and Lysander agree to meet in the woods.

She loves Demetrius but he wants to marry Hermia. Hermia She'd be pretty, sweet-voiced, and good at making men fall in love with her. She hasn't done much to inspire him; the more she frowns, curses, and hates him the more he loves her.

She's going to run off and get hitched to Lysander. Helena tries to understand why Demetrius fell out of love with her. Helena tattles to Demetrius about Hermia planning to elope with Lysander. Bottom is a character you love to hate. Bottom is antithesis of Theseus's character because he always puts himself first and he believes that he is on level with the gods. Also, tells everyone that he is the best actor of the actors assembled, though it is true, he should not need to advertise it, and in doing so, he is also percieved as conceited.

The difference with Theseus is that he knows he is a god and doesn't need to advertise it to evveryone. Should the rude mechanicals putting on the play be happy that Nick Bottom has returned or not?

The rude mechanicals putting on the play should not be overjoyed that Bottom has returned. This is because Bottom is cocky and lets everyone know how good he is at everything and eventually it gets old and tiring. Also, Bottom may be the best of the actors assembled to put the play on, however, he is overly dramatic and seems very asinine and if the actors want to win the competition they should keep Bottom out of it.
